Vocational Training
The FMPC affiliated Ap Lei Chau General Outpatient Clinic is an accredited training centre for both basic and higher training of the Vocational Training Programme in Family Medicine of the Hong Kong College of Family Physicians. Our residents receive special training in psychosocial counselling, teaching and research, in addition to the standard training curriculum. Many of them have become professional leaders.

The FMPC academic staff serve as examiners for the Hong Kong College of Family Physicians (HKCFP) fellowship and exit examinations. We are regular invited speakers at various postgraduate training and continuing medical education activities for family doctors. The FMPC organizes grand rounds with our residents to assure quality of care. These grand rounds are open to all registered doctors in Hong Kong, and are accredited continuing medical education (CME) activities for both specialists in family medicine and non-specialists.
The Family Medicine Department of the University of Hong Kong Shenzhen Hospital is a national accredited training centre for structured general practice training in China.
Visiting trainees in Family Medicine/General Practice are welcome to have elective training in our Department. Applicants should be eligible to apply for limited registration in Hong Kong, have indemnity cover and be able to speak Cantonese. Their applications should be received 12 months in advance.
